Lana Cease Watercolor Exhibit on Display During February

Cultural Corner Art Guild & Gallery welcomes watercolor artist Lana Cease.  Lana Cease, a Northwest Missouri lifelong artist was born and raised in Iowa.  Cease was taught to paint in oils at a young age by her mother and later took many art courses throughout high school but experienced very little watercolor.  A photographer by trade, she let her painting mainly go to the wayside until 2012 when her husband, Gene, bought her a watercolor class through AKMA as a Christmas gift.

“I’d always loved the look of watercolor but really didn’t know the proper techniques.  Having learned the basics of oil painting, it was difficult to make the jump as the approach to watercolor is the exact opposite of oil,” says Cease.  Cease took to it quickly and from there it unfolded extensively.

“Watercolor was just a hobby for me to start, but after a while it blossomed into something more, something bigger than I expected and from that a potential exhibition started to form.” Cease adds, “This is certainly a lifelong dream and something I never really thought would happen to me.”

You will find Lana’s work at local galleries and shops near Northwest Missouri, numerous publications, various exhibitions throughout the country as well as in private collections from Washington DC, USA, Montlignon Paris, France, Sandy, UT, Hilvarenbeck, Netherlands and more.  Cease is a member of National Watercolor Society, Southern Watercolor Society, Missouri Watercolor Society & Professional Photographers of America. Lana is the recipient of various awards from Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, Spokane Watercolor Society & Missouri Watercolor Society.  Be sure to watch for her work in 2018 in “Splash 19, the best of watercolor”.  “It’s been an incredible road and I can’t wait to see where it takes me from here!”

The Lana Cease Watercolor exhibit will be featured in the Cultural Corner Gallery opening Tuesday, February 6 through Thursday, March 1st when we will hold a closing reception from 5-8 p.m.  The reception is open to the public.  For more information regarding this event or other events at the Cultural Corner Art Guild & Gallery visit or call 660-240-5022.  To learn more about Lana Cease and her work visit
